Autumn 2020 Interior Design Trends and Inspiration

In a year that has been anything but normal, the new season brings some excitement about all the upcoming changes and opportunities. We have delved into some of the interior design trends that are going to be appearing over the next couple of months to give you the inspiration you may have been looking for, especially since we have all been spending a lot more time at home in recent months.

Scandinavian Design

Typically focusing on a clean, minimalistic approach, Scandinavian design is an increasingly popular option for those who enjoy simple and modern interiors. For Autumn 2020, primary autumnal colours are a key element giving a warmer feel. Try contrasting colours such as navy blue, mustard, cream and rust.

Country-Living

Classic country will always be a staple autumn/winter style, especially when combining darker tones. Think soft checks such as the gorgeous Cairngorm fabric by Prestigious Textiles below, combining soft greens and purples. Adding some woodland animal patterns into your home can be another great way to incorporate the Country-Living trend. Check out our Autumn Prickly fabric which is available in both a cotton print for curtains, blinds or cushions and a PVC for tablecloths.

Granny Chic

Contrary to Scandinavian Design which focuses on simplicity, ‘Granny Chic’ sees the return of classic patterns but with a modern twist including new colours and contrasts. Busy florals like the Autumn Hedgerow or Linen Morning Chorus and retro prints are making a reappearance for the upcoming season. The beauty of this trend is the ability to upcycle vintage items which is both economically and environmentally friendly. For a more subtle approach, try re-upholstering a vintage chair (we also offer an upholstery service) with a patterned fabric and then adding some contrasting cushions or to fully embrace the trend, contrast your curtains with either a patterned chair, rug or cushions or all three!

Globe Trotter

Combining a love for travel with the interior of your home is a popular trend for this season. You can opt for a subtle approach with neutral tones like the 'Safari Natural' fabric from Fryettes on the left of our window display or a bold, bright fabric like the 'Peacock Teal' fabric on the right. Our new 'Lost World' fabric in the colour 'Lime Velvet' pictured below is also the perfect option for this trend with its bold, striking colours. We also have a range of animal print cushions in stock which complement the Globe Trotter trend perfectly.
